Ioanna’s uncle George learned about grilling as a young man at the side of his father who was a butcher by trade. He developed a passion for good food served with good beer. Beer from Greece is made with fresh oxygen rich water springing forth from pine tree covered mountains with a flavorful balance of hops and barley harvested from the same soil that grows the juiciest plums, apricots and pomegranates. The island of Salamina is known for having the best potatoes and the most delicious fries George went on to open one of the most popular gyro shops on the island where he was known for “The Souvlaki.” People traveled from big city to get to George’s on the weekends.
