Basic Greek Salad Dressing
Greek Vinaigrette Recipe
Serving Size: 1 tablespoon for 2 cups of greens
Total Servings: 4
Container with tight fitting lid and measuring spoons
3 tablespoons, extra virgin olive oil
1 tablespoons, fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoons, dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon, minced garlic
Pour oil, vinegar, oregano, garlic into the container, seal and shake for 10 seconds to emulsify. That’s it!
Toss 1 tablespoon of dressing with 2 cups of loose or chopped greens and there’s your simple side salad.
The foundation to making the vinaigrette is a 3:1:1 ratio of oil-to-vinegar-to-dried herbs. You can substitute oils and acids to suit your tastebuds and add other ingredients.
Please make sure to use Extra Virgin Olive Oil because it has the most Omega-3s out of all the plant oils. This is a HELPFUL cholesterol that can lower the risk of heart disease and diabetes with a balanced diet;
Red wine vinegar can reduce the effect of a spike in blood sugar from carbohydrates which is helpful for those who have prediabetes or diabetes; oregano has antioxidants that can reduce the risk of cancer; and lastly, garlic can help boost the immune system.
