Gyros are Greek version of doner kebab or shawarma. It is typically made with lamb, beef or chicken wrapped in pita bread along with onions, tomatoes and tzakiti sauce.

500 g Boneless chicken
1/2 cup Greek Yoghurt
2 tbsp Olive oil
2 tbsp Lemon Juice
1 tbsp Oregano
1 tsp Salt
1 cup yoghurt
1/4 cup Cucumber grated
1 tsp olive oil
1 pinch salt
1 tsp Crushed Garlic

1 cucumber chopped
1 onion chopped
1 tomatoe chopped
1 tsp lemon juice


Cooking Chicken
Combine all marinade ingredients in a bowl or zip lock bag and add chicken.
Marinate for atleast 1 hour.
Grill it on a pan with little oil. Turning it once its done on one side.
Once chicken is done cover it with foil to rest for 10 mins.
Cut it into strips.

Grate a cucumber and squeeze out the water with hands.
Add grated cucumber to yoghurt along with crushed garlic, olive oil and salt, and mix.
Chop onions, tomatoe and cucumber, add lemon juice and salt.
Heat pita bread, arrange chicken strips, followed by tzakiti and salad.
Roll it up in baking paper.
