A new family-friendly festival is bringing fun to the Upstate community while also helping highlight a burgeoning part of Greenville. The inaugural Pelham 85 Spring Fling event will showcase the dozens of businesses that have made their home at the Pelham 85 shopping center with a kid-friendly event that features live music, food and giveaways.
The event is planned for 1-5 p.m. March 24 at the parking lot in front of Earth Fare on Pelham Road. The entire space will be converted into a sort of tailgate for the afternoon.
“Greer has an identity, downtown has an identity, even Taylors has it’s square,” says event co-organizer, Lauren Ploof, who works for Painting with a Twist, one of the participating businesses. “Pelham kind of falls into this no man’s land in some ways. So we’re kind of trying to start a little identity for it.”
The upshot of the festival is that the participants span a wide range of areas, meaning you will be able to find deals and or activities to fit anyone’s taste. The restaurants, ranging from Bacon Bros. Public House to Chicken Salad Chick and The Lost Cajun and Shuckin’ Shack will be serving up small plates of specialties, and the other businesses will be giving attendees a taste of what they do as well.
That means you can expect everything from an oyster roast to a crawfish boil, Greek cuisine to chef driven nibbles, and live music throughout the day. Oh, and Earth Fare will be doing a make-your-own granola bar.
In addition, activities span a range from hair wraps and face painting for the kids to sidewalk sales and lots of raffles. All the participating businesses are offering giveaway packages.
“It will be a perfect little shindig,” Ploof promises.
